HC Deb 05 February 1991 vol 185 c92W
22. Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many trained physiotherapists there are currently employed by the NHS; and whether he has any plans to increase this number.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

The latest available information for England relates to 30 September 1989 and shows that there were 9,750 (whole-time equivalents) qualified physiotherapists in post. Any further increase in this number will be for health authorities to determine in the light of local circumstances.
