To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many health authorities now share a general manager with another health authority; and what is his policy towards encouraging such an arrangement.

This information is not held centrally; the appointment of a general manager is a matter for the health authority concerned. Regulations allow an executive member of one authority to be an executive member of a similar type of authority.
