§ Mrs. Gillian ShephardIn the year to 31 March 1990 Customs seized 1,546 live animals and birds, 188 plants and 7,148 parts and derivatives (such as elephant tusks, stuffed animals and birds and goods made from ivory or reptile leather) because their importation or exportation contravened the restrictions imposed by the Endangered Species (Import and Export) Act 1976 or Council regulation No. 3626/82.
