To ask the Secretary of State for Energy when he expects to table the statutory instruments necessary to implement aspects of the Coal Mining Subsidence Act 1991.

The Secretary of State has made the following statutory instruments under powers granted by the Coal Mining Subsidence Act 1991:

  • The Coal Mining Subsidence Act 1991 (Commencement) Order 1991 (SI 1991/2508)
  • The Coal Mining Subsidence (Notices and Claims) Regulations 1991 (SI 1991/2509)
  • The Coal Mining Subsidence (Preventive Measures and Rates of Interest) Order 1991 (SI 1991/2510)

The commencement order brought the Act into force on 30 November 1991. The other two instruments also came into force on that date.

The Government have no plans to make any further instruments at present, but will keep the need for further instruments under review.
