HC Deb 19 December 1991 vol 201 c245W
Mr. Winnick

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if the newly appointed head of the Security Service will meet hon. Members of Parliament formally to discuss her job.

Mr. Kenneth Baker

The Security Service Act 1989 placed on a statutory footing the previous convention, under which the Director General of the Security Service was regarded as responsible to Ministers for the work of the service, and Ministers were in turn accountable to Parliament. There are no plans for any change in this framework.
