To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the revenue yield to the Exchequer of duties and taxes on spirits in the last financial year.

The revenue yield in 1990–91 was estimated to be £2.4 billion, of which duties accounted for £1.7 billion and VAT accounted for £0.7 billion.
