HL Deb 18 December 1991 vol 533 c53WA
Lord Rea

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have assessed the need for technical assistance in health care in the constituent republics of the former Soviet Union, and whether they have considered whether the Know How Fund might be an appropriate vehicle to meet that need.

The Earl of Caithness

The Government assessed the most important areas of need for technical assistance when the Know How Fund for the Soviet Union was set up in November last year. Ministers decided to limit the fund to the four priority sectors of food processing and distribution, financial services, small business creation and energy. There are no plans to extend the fund to the health care sector for the time being.
