HC Deb 18 December 1991 vol 201 cc200-1W
Mr. Stephen

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what representations from the public he has had in favour of Foresterhill hospital's application for trust status;

(2) what representations from the public he has had (a) in favour (b) against Foresterhill hospital's application for trust status.

Mr. Lang

[holding answer 16 December 1991]: As I indicated in my statement on 3 December, representations, both for and against Foresterhill applications, were made during the public consultation period. I very much welcome the comments made since the announcement by many associated with Foresterhill pledging themselves to ensure the success of the trust in the interests of improved patient care.

Mr. Stephen

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the value of the Foresterhill site claimed by the proposed trust as part of its application for national health service trust status.

Mr. Lang

[holding answer 16 December 1991]: The total value of property assets declared in the trust application was £119 million. This will be revised as at 1 April 1992, the date the trust comes into operation, to reflect the situation then prevailing.

Mr. Stephen

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make it his policy to ensure that standards of education and training at Foresterhill hospital are maintained when it becomes a trust.

Mr. Lang

[holding answer 16 December 1991]: Trusts, like directly managed hospitals, will be required to participate fully in national education and training arrangements. This obligation was reflected in the Foresterhill hospital's trust application.

Mr. Stephen

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will address a public meeting in Kincardine and Deeside to discuss the Foresterhill hospital complex following his approval of the trust application.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

[holding answer 16 December 1991]: I expect to undertake a number of public engagements in Grampian in the coming months.

Mr. Stephen

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether the Raeden complex is to be part of the Foresterhill trust.

Mr. Lang

[holding answer 16 December 1991]: As was made clear in the decision letter sent to the trust sponsors on 3 December, a copy of which was placed in the House Library, the Raeden centre will not form part of the Foresterhill trust.

Mr. Stephen

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish the business plan and details of the application for trust status for the Foresterhill hospital complex.

Mr. Lang

[holding answer 16 December 1991]: Copies of the detailed application and of the executive summary were readily available throughout the public consultation period. Grampian health board reports that 639 copies of the former and 956 copies of the latter were issued.
