HC Deb 18 December 1991 vol 201 cc164-5W
Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will undertake to conduct a full environmental impact assessment of the proposed routes for improvement of the A27; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Chope

[holding answer 17 December 1991]: Public consultation is taking place at present on the Lewes-Polegate section of the A27. Consideration of the environmental effects of this road scheme has been a continuous process throughout the planning and design stages. An appraisal of environmental effects of all the A27 consultation routes is outlined in the consultation brochure and at the local consultation exhibitions. Further detailed environmental appraisal will be carried out as the proposals develop.
