Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will state(a) the infant mortality rate, (b) the maternal mortality rate and (c) the perinatal and neonatal death rates for each of the years 1988, 1989 and 1990 in the United Kingdom, each other country of the EC and the WHO European region.

Complete data are not available in the form requested. The latest data from the WHO European regional office indicator presentation system are shown in the tables, together with any later estimates from other sources.

Caution should be used in interpreting international rates, particularly those relating to perinatal mortality, due to differences in ascertainment between countries.
