Mrs. Ann Winterton

To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) what advice he has given to Mersey regional health authority about the possible establishment of a village community for mentally handicapped patients on the site of the Cranage Hall hospital; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he will give details of the progress which has been made towards the closure, disposal and subsequent use of the Cranage Hall hospital and its grounds.

Mr. Dorrell

The Department does not offer advice about the future of specific hospitals. The future of services at Cranage Hall hospital is a matter for Crewe health authority.
