HC Deb 12 December 1991 vol 200 c543W
Mr. Boyes

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what impact his announcement of the cessation of routine carriage of tactical nuclear weapons on Royal Navy ships will have on his policy of neither confirming nor denying the presence of nuclear weapons on those vessels.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The Secretary of State announced in September that our ships will no longer carry tactical nuclear weapons in normal circumstances. It remains the Government's policy neither to confirm nor to deny the presence of nuclear weapons in specific locations at specific times.

Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make it his policy to make public details of correspondence sent to his Department critical of nuclear weapons in cases where the authors make explicit their willingness for such disclosure.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

No.
