Mr. Archie Hamilton

No.

Mr. Boyes

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many man days work have been carried out in inspection, repair and safety work on decommissioned nuclear-powered submarines in each year since 1983.

Mr. Alan Clark

To date only HMS Dreadnought is fully decommissioned. She is closely monitored to ensure her continued radiological safety and approximately 3,500 man days have so far been spent on inspection, repair and safety work since her removal from service in 1982.
