§ Mr. Nicholas BennettLocal housing authorities are responsible for assessing housing needs within their areas. Working in partnership with other housing providers and voluntary bodies, it is for them to plan for the strategic needs of all single vulnerable homeless people and secure appropriate accommodation. The Department has already made additional resources available this year through the homelessness reserve, grants to voluntary bodies and the urban programme.
