HC Deb 11 December 1991 vol 200 cc430-1W
Mr. Latham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps are being taken by his Department and by English Heritage to ensure a sympathetic restoration or conversion scheme for Burley-on-the-Hill, Rutland, a grade listed building.

Mr. Yeo

On 14 March 1991 the Secretary of State called in for his own determination the two planning applications for Burley and the associated applications for listed building consent. The appropriateness of the proposals for a grade I listed building will be an important factor in the Secretary of State's consideration of the case. English Heritage has had close involvement with the local authority in assessing the proposals and their views, as made available to the inquiry, will be taken into account.

Mr. Latham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will make a statement on the progress of his consideration of the outcome of the public inquiry relating to Burley-on-the-Hill, Rutland.

Mr. Yeo

The inspector is currently completing his report. The Secretary of State will consider it as soon as it is submitted to him.
