Mr. Nicholas Brown

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate for 1991–92 of the numbers of men and women with earnings below(a) the tax threshold and (b) the national insurance contribution threshold, in (i) Great Britain and (ii) Northern Ireland.

Estimates for the United Kingdom in 1991–92, based on projections from the 1988 and 1989 family expenditure surveys and on the new earnings survey, are as follows:
