To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will give a breakdown of the planned expenditure on(a) new construction and improvement, (b) structural maintenance and (c) current maintenance on trunk roads by his Department for the years 1992–93, 1993–94 and 1994–95, respectively.

[holding answer 21 November 1991]: Planned net expenditure in 1992–93 on the roads and transport programme in Wales is about £195 million; this includes £135 million for new construction and improvements, £36 million for structural renewals and £21 million for current maintenance. The comparable figures for 1993–94 and 1994–95 will be announced in due course.
