HC Deb 04 December 1991 vol 200 c146W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Attorney-General what representations he has had concerning the removal of historic fixtures and fittings from the probate registry, Cardiff road, Llandaff, Cardiff; what steps he proposes to take to prevent repetition of such removal; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

No representations have been received other than the comments made about the probate registry in the report by the Comptroller and Auditor General, "Upkeep of Historic Buildings on the Historic Estate" of November 1991. The Lord Chancellor's Department assumed responsibility for the upkeep of this building on 1 April 1991, from the Department of the Environment. It intends to follow the criteria for obtaining value for money in maintaining historic buildings set out in appendix 1 of the report. In particular, it will ensure that consultation procedures with the statutory conservation authorities are fully observed before the commencement of maintenance or improvement work of its historic buildings.
