HC Deb 04 December 1991 vol 200 cc155-6W
Mr. Moate

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will publish a table showing comparable expenditure by the Medway district health authority on a year by year basis from 1975 to the current year.

Mr. Dorrell

Following is information derived from the annual accounts of the Medway health authority since its establishment on 1 April 1982.

Medway health authority—total revenue expenditure on hospital and community health services (HCHS)
£000 (cash) £000 (at 1991–92 prices)
1982–83 36,447 60,634
1983–84 39,775 63,248
1984–85 43,134 65,273
1985–86 45,252 64,939
1986–87 49,751 69,035
1987–88 53,776 70,763
1988–89 61,073 74,898
1989–90 66,983 77,227
1990–9l1 75,357 80,632
1 Provisional figure (as yet subject to audit).

Notes:

1. HCHS covers all services directly managed by the authority including hospital, community health, patient transport (i.e. ambulance) and other services.

2. The figures have been expressed at current (i.e. 1991–92) prices by the use of Gross Domestic Product deflators.

3. Prior to 1 April 1982 the authority's predecessor health district formed a part of a larger area health authority and in such cases figures on a district basis were not collected centrally.
