Mr. Peter Bottomley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will name the major hospital capital projects in Greater London, listing the date of ministerial approval, the cost in the initial announcement and the present estimate.

Mr. Dorrell

Major health building projects in Greater London which have ministerial approval are as follows:

Date of approval 1 Current estimate £ million
Westminster and Chelsea December 1988 242
Goodmayes District General Hospital December 1985 66
Guy's phase 3 August 1989 106

1 The current estimated outturn costs include VAT, fees, equipment, local factors and inflation. These costs may be funded in part from sources other than capital allocation—for example, university grants, appeal funds, trustees.
No estimate of outturn cost was published for any of these projects at the time ministerial approval was announced.
