To ask the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what steps the Department of Employment redundancy payment office is taking to expedite payment of statutory redundancy payments to ex-BCCI staff;

(2) what response has been received from Touche Ross, the provisional liquidators of BCCI, in response to inquiries from his Department on form RP22 in respect of ex-staff members claiming statutory redundancy money; and if he will make a statement.

The redundancy payments service has agreed with Touche Ross arrangements for processing RP22 forms relating to claims from ex-BCCI staff. I now expect claims to be paid shortly.
