The most recent comprehensive information published is contained in the 1985 river quality survey.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he would make a statement on conditions of rivers in Wales in the light of the 1990 river quality survey conducted by the NRA.

The report of the 1990 survey has not yet been published by the National Rivers Authority. When it is, I confidently expect it to show an overall improvement in the quality of rivers in the Authority's Welsh Region since 1985.
