§ Mr. DorrellThe number of coronary artery bypass grafts performed in the United Kingdom in 1978 was 3,190(a) compared with an estimated 14,543 (b) in 1990–91, the latest year for which figures are available. According to information provided by the United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority, three heart transplants were carried out in 1979, the first year for which figures were collected, and 329 in 1990, the latest year for which figures are available.
