HC Deb 02 December 1991 vol 200 cc66-7W
Mr. Mullin

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make available the autopsy report on Fergal Caraher to his family.

Dr. Mawhinney

[holding answer 28 November 1991]: Under the Coroners (Practice and Procedures) Rules (N.I.) 1963, the decision whether, and if so when, to make available to properly interested persons a report of a post mortem examination of the body of a person whose death has been reported to a coroner, is entirely a matter for the coroner concerned. The coroner is an independent judicial officer.
