To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the number of individuals in 1991–92 claiming(a) the additional personal allowance and (b) the widow's bereavement allowance.

Mr. Maude

In 1991–92 the number of individuals claiming the additional personal allowance is estimated to be 480,000. The corresponding figure for the widow's bereavement allowance is 130,000.
