HL Deb 30 April 1991 vol 528 c18WA
Baroness David

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether consideration is being given under the review of local government to any proposals affecting provision under the Education Act 1981 for pupils with special educational needs.

Baroness Blatch

The Government's consultation paperThe Structure of Local Government in England contains proposals which apply to the range of local authority services, including education. The Government's aim is to achieve the structure which best matches the particular circumstances of each area. The Local Government Commission would need to consider the implications for delivery of services, including provision under the Education Act 1981, of different patterns of local authority structure in each individual case.
