Mr. Dobson

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was the total expenditure by his Department on press and public relations in 1979–80 and in each following year; and what is his estimate for 1990–91 and budget for 1991–92.

I refer to the answer given to the hon. Member on 13 March 1990, at column 172. Expenditure in the past two years was as follows:

The figures include regional press officer and other support services. Activity in this area during the current year is expected to remain at broadly the same level as in 1990–91.
