To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will give details of any improvement or renovation schemes scheduled to be undertaken by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive at properties in North street, Newry, over the next three years.

[holding answer 29 April 1991]: This is a matter for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive but I have been advised by the chief executive that no improvement/renovation works are proposed for North street, Newry, within the next three years.

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what improvement or renovation schemes have been carried out by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive to properties at North street, Newry, in each of the past five years; and what was the cost of each scheme.

[holding answer 29 April 1991]: This is a matter for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, but I have been advised by the chief executive that two improvements/renovation schemes were carried out in North street, Newry, during the past five years. They are as follows:

1. North street phase 1

Improvement scheme (103 dwellings). Completed in February 1986 at a cost of £408,800, which comprised of the following works:

  1. (a) fire regulation compliance
  2. (b) upgrading of entrance hall and access galleries
  3. (c)provision of audio/visual entry system.

2. North street phase 2

Improvement scheme 2

Improvement scheme (18 dwellings). Completed in February 1987 at a cost of £129,337, which comprised the following works:

  1. (a) fire regulation compliance
  2. (b) upgrading of entrance hall and accesses
  3. (c) provision of audio/visual entry system
  4. (d)general repairs including kitchen fittings
  5. (e)re-roofing
  6. (f)re-wiring and installation of Economy 7.
