Mr. JacksonI have no plans to introduce a mandatory system of national training qualifications for sheltered housing staff. However, under the programme to develop national vocational qualifications for all occupations the housing lead body is currently developing national vocational qualifications for those employed in housing activities. The development of NVQs for sheltered housing 77W staff is part of that programme, and I am confident that relevant qualifications will be available by mid-1992, in line with Government targets.
