To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security (1) what would be the annual cost of extending widowed mothers' allowance to widowed fathers where at least one of the children is under five years;

(2) what would be the annual cost of extending widowed mothers' allowance to widowed fathers where at least one of the children is under 11 years.

It is not possible to estimate accurately the cost of extending the widowed mothers' allowance to widowed fathers for those with children in the specified age groups.
