§ Mr. MellorThe figures are published in table A9, on direct investments in the March issue of "Economic Trends", published by the Central Statistical Office. A country analysis of the quarterly estimates is not available. However a geographical analysis is available for cross-border acquisitions and mergers by overseas companies in the United Kingdom in 1990. This is published in table 7 of Business Bulletin 23/91 "Cross border acquisitions and mergers (Q4 1990)". Copies of both publications are in the Library. It should be noted that cross-border acquisitions and mergers do not always give rise to direct investment capital flows and direct investment may be in forms other than acquisitions.
