HC Deb 26 April 1991 vol 189 c581W
Mr. Peter Bottomley

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will consider protecting from unsuitable development the remaining flying boat shore facilities.

Mr. Needham

Yes. The fact that a site has been used as a flying boat facility would be taken into account in the processing of a planning application by the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland. Following a request from the Lough Erne Aviation museum, the Department is currently considering the statutory listing of the slipway and concrete service bays at Goblusk bay, Lower Lough Erne.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many old flying boat shore facilities are undeveloped.

Mr. Needham

The Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland is aware of at least three sites where some facilities for flying boats still remain. A comprehensive list of such sites is not kept by the Department.
