§ Mr. Peter BottomleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will consider protecting from unsuitable development the remaining flying boat shore facilities.
§ Mr. NeedhamYes. The fact that a site has been used as a flying boat facility would be taken into account in the processing of a planning application by the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland. Following a request from the Lough Erne Aviation museum, the Department is currently considering the statutory listing of the slipway and concrete service bays at Goblusk bay, Lower Lough Erne.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many old flying boat shore facilities are undeveloped.
§ Mr. NeedhamThe Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland is aware of at least three sites where some facilities for flying boats still remain. A comprehensive list of such sites is not kept by the Department.
