HC Deb 25 April 1991 vol 189 c533W
19. Mr. Maclennan

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what new measures he will propose to enhance the effectiveness of crime prevention; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

The Government are constantly seeking to enhance the effectiveness of crime prevention in the interests of community safety. The report of an independent working group appointed by the Home Secretary to study the partnership approach to crime prevention is due in early summer. In the light of the group's findings the Government will consider whether further measures are necessary to ensure the effective organisation of crime prevention and to assess the impact of particular initiatives. In addition the Government will be evaluating the success of the national Crime Prevention Week which ended on 20 April.
