These include additional people and money for the police and a growing programme of crime prevention measures. The provisions of the Criminal534W Justice Bill will enhance the courts' powers to deal effectively with offenders. Effective crime prevention is not just a responsibility of the Government, the police and the courts; it needs the support of the entire community.
