HC Deb 25 April 1991 vol 189 c553W
Miss Emma Nicholson

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what assessment his Department has made of the effects that the proposed alterations to the CAP would have on the British farming industry;

(2) what is his estimate of the average subsidy which will be paid on a per acre basis to farms of (a) 33 acres or less, (b) less than 163 acres and (c) more than 163 acres over the current financial year and in that beginning in April 1992 if the current proposals for the reform of the CAP go ahead unchanged.

Mr. Curry

The European Commission has yet to produce detailed proposals for the reform of the CAP. If the Commission was to pursue the principles for reform set out in its February discussion paper, United Kingdom producers would be severely disadvantaged.
