§ Mr. HanleyTwo persons have been successfully prosecuted for the illegal administration of clenbuterol to cattle and three further prosecutions are pending. Thirteen kilos of the substance in powder form have been seized this year. The importation of unlicensed products such as clenbuterol into the United Kingdom is illegal. Inspectors of the Department of Health and Social Services work closely with HM Customs and Excise and the RUC in 529W seizing illicit supplies and arranging for the subsequent prosecution of offenders. It should be noted that any animal presented for slaughter with traceable and unjustified levels of clenbuterol will be condemned and destroyed.
