§ Mr. DalyellTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on his response to the policy conclusions of the recent biodiversity convention, at which he was represented.
§ Mr. BaldryMy Department was represented, along with officials from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Overseas Development Administration, at a meeting of legal and technical experts on biological diversity convened in March by the United Nations Environment Programme. This was largely concerned with deciding the necessary procedures to enable negotiation of a global convention to begin at the next meeting which will be held in Madrid from 24 June to 3 July.
