HC Deb 25 April 1991 vol 189 c553W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) how many letters he has received on the subject of the decision by the United Kingdom on 8 April to oppose the measures presented by the Commission to increase the legal limits of agricultural spending; and what is the nature of these representations;

(2) if he will make a statement on the measures proposed on 8 April by the European Commission on the limits of agricultural spending; and what steps the Council now proposes to take on these proposals.

Mr. Curry

The Commission's 1991–92 price proposals, published on 13 March, are designed to contain agricultural expenditure within the legally binding limit—the guideline. At the ECOFIN Council on 8 April the United Kingdom confirmed its support for a settlement compatible with the guideline.
