§ Mr. Teddy TaylorTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) how many letters he has received on the subject of the decision by the United Kingdom on 8 April to oppose the measures presented by the Commission to increase the legal limits of agricultural spending; and what is the nature of these representations;
(2) if he will make a statement on the measures proposed on 8 April by the European Commission on the limits of agricultural spending; and what steps the Council now proposes to take on these proposals.
§ Mr. CurryThe Commission's 1991–92 price proposals, published on 13 March, are designed to contain agricultural expenditure within the legally binding limit—the guideline. At the ECOFIN Council on 8 April the United Kingdom confirmed its support for a settlement compatible with the guideline.
