HC Deb 24 April 1991 vol 189 c479W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will place in the Library a copy of his pesticide safety division report into the use of strychnine for the poisoning of wildlife in April 1990 on the Fermor-Hesketh estate.

Mr. Maclean

On 11 April 1990 a dead fox was found at Kirby farm, Pury End, Northants, together with the remains of pigeons and rabbits. As is normal in such incidents, a post mortem examination was carried out by this Department. Laboratory analysis of the stomach contents revealed the presence of a residue of strychnine. Despite detailed inquiries by a departmental investigation officer it has not proved possible to identify who was responsible. The pesticides safety division has not produced a report on the incident.
