§ Mr. FallonInformation on school library books is not collected separately, but is contained within a figure for local education authority spending on text and library books. Figures returned by local education authorities for spending on books need to be treated with caution because of differing local authority practices in classifying spending between books and equipment. The table therefore shows, for each year for which information is available, spending figures for books and equipment together as well as for books separately.
