HC Deb 24 April 1991 vol 189 c475W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement in respect of Gerard Clarke, a prisoner in Crumlin Road gaol as to what reason he gave for going on hunger strike at the end of March; and if it is still continuing.

Dr. Mawhinney

Gerard Clarke has been refusing prison food since 27 March and continues to do so. He is protesting about his removal from association with other prisoners under prison rule 25 (Northern Ireland) 1982.
