HC Deb 24 April 1991 vol 189 c484W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what assessment he has made of service men suffering battle stress; and what contribution his Department is making to deal with this problem.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

Casualty figures, our own research and medical reports and information from other sources indicate that the level of battle stress among participants in Operation Granby is modest and manageable. This can be largely attributed to the education programme, the provision of a network of psychiatric support particularly in operational areas and the targeting of extra support to personnel who have been exposed to exceptional stress.
