To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received from the horticultural industry in East Anglia about National Rivers Authority restrictions on the extraction of irrigation water from bore holes.

Mr. Curry

The Ministry has received a number of letters and telephone calls from, and held meetings with, farmers and growers and their representatives in East Anglia. Their main concern is the possible restriction by the authority of abstraction for irrigation to the hours beween 6 am and noon.
