1 Expenditure by local authorities on rate rebates.
2 Column 5 = column (1–2–3–4) = column (6+7).
3 In 1983–84 there was a change in Housing Benefit payments, some payments previously paid by DHSS to recipients of supplementary benefits and classed as "Rates" were from 1983–84 paid by the local authorities and classed as "Rate Rebates". Thus figures from 1983–84 are not strictly comparable with those for previous years.

Sir Wyn Roberts

Fifty-one of the 60 miles of the A55 between Chester and Bangor are already dualled and open to traffic; eight miles are under construction. Work on the final section, the Aber improvement scheme, is planned to start before April 1994 and to take about 18 months.
