§ Mr. CurryThe European Community has not assumed responsibility for policy on whaling, but no whaling. whether commercial or scientific, is believed to take place in Community waters. Further, the Community prohibits trade in whale products through its implementation of the convention on international trade in endangered species. We will continue to press within the International Whaling Commission for the conservation of whales and for scientific research to be carried out by non-lethal methods wherever possible.
