Lord Sefton of Garston

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state how they arrive at the figure for revenue support grant to local authorities and whether they employ a formula in assessing the figure and if so whether local authorities are informed.

The means of assessing revenue support grant for local authorities is set out inThe Revenue Support Grant Distribution Report (England) as amended by The Revenue Support Grant Distribution (Amendment) Report (England). This was debated and approved by the House of Commons on 29th January 1991. Copies of both documents are available in the Library and have been sent to each English local authority.
