HC Deb 22 April 1991 vol 189 c350W
28. 28 Mr. Steen

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the Government's policy towards maintaining a multi-airline industry in the United Kingdom.

Mr. McLoughlin

The Government's policy is to promote free and fair competition in aviation, so that there remains a healthy, competitive airline industry in the United Kingdom which meets the needs of users. The market is diverse enough to sustain a variety of United Kingdom-based carriers as well as their foreign competitors.
