HC Deb 19 April 1991 vol 189 c265W
Mr. Fraser

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress has been made in his Department in limiting the spread of rhododendrons as a threat to woodlands and wild landscapes.

Mr. Baldry

The Department has not carried out specific work on this subject, but the Forestry Commission is continuing research into methods of controlling rhododendron, and results are promising. Bulletin 73, Field Book 8 and Research Information Note 186, issued by the Commission, provide more detailed information about control on forest sites. I am arranging for a copy of each document to be placed in the Library of the House.
