To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what action he is taking in Kuwait to deal with(a) land mines on approach roads to oil fires and (b) mines hidden in lakes of oil.

British forces are not involved in such work at present. However, we are considering the ways in which British forces might support the civil rehabilitation and reconstruction programme in Kuwait.
