HL Deb 15 April 1991 vol 527 cc77-8WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware of reports (in the International Herald Tribune for 2nd November 1990) that sales worth $1.5 billion of high technology equipment useful in the manufacture of arms, including nuclear arms, were approved by the United States administration for export to Iraq in the five years up to mid–1990 and whether in their view such sales should in future be regulated by international agreement.

The Earl of Caithness:

The export of arms and related technology from the United States is a matter for the United States Government. We work constantly with our partners in the appropriate international fora to combat the proliferation of all weapons of mass destruction.
